Advertised as a 50’s American diner, this burger restaurant is located in Glattpark in Zurich North. There are two locations around Zurich and one a bit further out in Wetzikon (at time of writing, Aug 2020).
During the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, restaurants closed and businesses and customers both suffered, they couldn’t sell burgers and we couldn’t buy them! Once restrictions were relaxed, we went for lunch to this restaurant midweek.
The laminated menu offers an enormous list of burger options, including monster burgers and sticking with the 50’s diner theme, breakfast options served all day.
Being here for burgers of course I ordered the El Mariachi Mexican, a spicy burger with guacamole and jalapenos.
Having a menu consisting pretty much of only burgers, we’d expected the food to come fairly quickly, however we waited almost an hour for them to come. The restaurant wasn’t that busy, so we really didn’t understand. This led to eager anticipation of good burgers, and were unfortunately let down.
The burgers that were delivered were very small in comparison to the bun, also burned. The curly fries, while tasty, were few. I’m upset when we’re asked to pay more for ‘better’ fries and then get a smaller portion than the regular ones.
Inside, the restaurant is complete with USA car registration plates and pictures all over the walls, a jukebox and neon signs. Only booths would complete the picture. On this particular visit, other diners were also experiencing this delay of food and one table left before their order came. Being a midweek lunchtime we were also short on time and had to go back to work, so the delay on food was adding tension.
This is the second time i’ve been to this restaurant and not been impressed by the food. I will try the other locations in an effort to improve my view, but i’m unlikely to rush back to Glattpark. There are other American diner options nearer the city center i’d recommend. Let me know if you have a better experience!
